Overview

CD19 CAR T cells (Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed for the treatment of CD19-positive B-cell malignancies. The therapy is produced by genetically modifying a patient's own T cells using a lentiviral vector to express a second-generation CAR construct. This construct consists of an anti-CD19 single-chain variable fragment (scFv) for antigen recognition, a 4-1BB (CD137) costimulatory domain to enhance T-cell persistence and expansion, and a CD3ζ signaling domain to trigger T-cell activation upon binding to CD19-expressing cells. Primarily investigated by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital (Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences), this therapy targets malignant B cells in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).
