CD7 CAR-T (Qi Deng) is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the CD7 antigen, a 40-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein highly expressed in T-cell malignancies and a subset of myeloid leukemias. The therapy involves engineering T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes and binds to CD7-positive malignant cells, leading to their destruction. CD7 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is considered a marker for disease aggressiveness and poor prognosis in hematologic malignancies such as T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), T-cell lymphoma, and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). A significant challenge in CD7-targeted CAR-T development is 'fratricide,' where the engineered cells target each other due to endogenous CD7 expression; this is typically addressed through gene-editing techniques to eliminate CD7 expression on the CAR-T cells themselves. This specific program is being evaluated in clinical trials led by investigator Qi Deng for relapsed or refractory CD7-positive hematologic diseases.
