Overview

CD7 CAR-T cell therapy is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell immunotherapy developed by The General Hospital of Western Theater Command in collaboration with Shanghai YaKe Biotechnology and Fudan University. The therapy targets CD7, a 40-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the majority of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) cells and a subset of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. Because CD7 is also expressed on healthy T-cells and NK-cells, the therapy utilizes specialized technology, such as gene editing or protein expression blocking, to prevent CAR-T cell fratricide during production and expansion. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for patients with relapsed or refractory CD7-positive acute leukemias who have limited treatment options.
