Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cecolin + Hecolin is a combination vaccine regimen consisting of Cecolin, a recombinant bivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine protecting against HPV types 16 and 18, and Hecolin, a recombinant hepatitis E vaccine. Cecolin is an aluminum hydroxide-adjuvanted suspension of self-assembled L1 virus-like particles (VLPs) for HPV types 16 and 18, expressed in Escherichia coli. Hecolin is the first licensed recombinant hepatitis E vaccine, also produced in Escherichia coli, and protects against hepatitis E virus infection. The combination is investigated for co-administration to provide simultaneous protection against cervical cancer (by preventing HPV infection) and hepatitis E, especially in populations with high disease burden or overlapping risks. Cecolin induces humoral immunity against HPV; Hecolin induces immunity against hepatitis E virus[6][8].
