This is a combination of three antibiotics—cefazolin, erythromycin, and clarithromycin. Cefazolin is a first-generation cephalosporin (β-lactam) antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis. Erythromycin and clarithromycin are macrolide antibiotics that inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby blocking translocation of peptides. This combination has been studied for use in specific clinical scenarios such as preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), where cefazolin is combined with either erythromycin or clarithromycin to reduce neonatal morbidity and placental inflammation[1]. The triple combination may also be considered for multidrug-resistant infections based on experimental data[3], but it does not have a unique brand name or widespread clinical use as a fixed formulation.
