Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Azidep CX is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic containing cefixime and azithromycin, developed and marketed by Bennet Pharmaceuticals. Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin that exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This combination is typically indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, enteric fever (typhoid), and uncomplicated urogenital infections, providing a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and atypical bacteria.
