Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OLDCEF-SB is a combination antibacterial injection containing ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, and sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Ceftriaxone exerts bactericidal activity by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis. Sulbactam acts as a suicide inhibitor of bacterial beta-lactamases, protecting ceftriaxone from enzymatic degradation and extending its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase-producing resistant strains. Developed and marketed by JoY Pharma, this combination is indicated for the treatment of various severe bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, meningitis, septicemia, and skin and soft tissue infections.
