celecoxib + gabapentin

Celecoxib + gabapentin is a combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily as part of multimodal analgesia for the management of postoperative pain. Celecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which reduces inflammation and pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that modulates voltage-gated calcium channels, reducing excitatory neurotransmitter release and thereby decreasing neuropathic pain signaling. The combination has been shown in multiple clinical trials to provide additive or synergistic effects in reducing postoperative pain and opioid consumption compared to either agent alone, with improved patient satisfaction and fewer side effects than higher doses of gabapentin alone[2][3][5][6]. This regimen is commonly used perioperatively for orthopedic or spine surgeries.
