Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug represents a **combination therapy** of **celecoxib**, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, and **gemcitabine**, a nucleoside analog used as chemotherapy. Celecoxib reduces the production of prostaglandin E2 and inflammation, while gemcitabine inhibits DNA synthesis, resulting in cell death, particularly in rapidly dividing tumor cells. This combination has been studied primarily in advanced pancreatic cancer and other solid tumors to assess additive or synergistic antitumor effects, including modulation of immune response by enabling immunogenic cell death.
