Overview

Celecoxib + golimumab is a combination therapy consisting of two distinct pharmaceutical agents used together, primarily studied in the treatment of radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (r-axSpA) and ankylosing spondylitis. Celecoxib is a selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby alleviating pain and inflammation. Golimumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), inhibiting its activity to reduce chronic inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases. The combination has been investigated for its potential to slow radiographic spinal progression in high-risk patients, but clinical trials have not demonstrated statistically significant superiority over golimumab monotherapy[1][2][3][5][7][8].
