Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Celecoxib + rebamipide is a combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily to manage pain and inflammation while protecting the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa. Celecoxib is a selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. It is indicated for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, and menstrual cramps[1][5][6]. Rebamipide is an amino acid derivative with gastroprotective properties; it enhances mucosal defense by promoting prostaglandin synthesis and gastric mucus secretion while scavenging free radicals. Rebamipide is used to treat gastritis, peptic ulcers, gastroduodenal ulcers, and as prophylaxis against NSAID-induced GI injury[3][4][8]. The combination aims to provide effective anti-inflammatory therapy with reduced risk of upper GI complications associated with NSAIDs[2][8].
