CELZ-201 is an investigational allogeneic cell-based therapy composed of Perinatal Tissue Derived Cells (PTDCs), which are harvested from human umbilical cord blood and tissue from a single donor source. Developed by Creative Medical Technology Holdings, the therapy is designed to treat type 1 diabetes mellitus by leveraging the regenerative and immunomodulatory properties of these perinatal cells. CELZ-201 is administered via a single intra-arterial infusion directly into the dorsal pancreatic artery, a novel delivery method intended to place the cells in close proximity to the pancreatic environment. The therapy aims to promote the preservation or restoration of insulin-producing beta cells without the requirement for chronic immunosuppression, utilizing the cells' low antigenicity, self-renewal capabilities, and potential for large-scale clinical expansion.
