Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cendakimab (NST0010) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes interleukin-13 (IL-13), a key Th2 cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and other allergic inflammatory diseases. By binding to IL-13, cendakimab prevents its interaction with the IL-13 receptor subunits (IL-13Rα1 and IL-13Rα2), thereby inhibiting the downstream signaling pathways that lead to tissue eosinophilia, fibrosis, and esophageal remodeling. Originally developed by Receptos (later Celgene and then Bristol Myers Squibb), the asset was licensed to Nestlé Health Science for global development in EoE. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of adult and adolescent patients with EoE, where it aims to reduce both histological eosinophil counts and clinical symptoms such as dysphagia.
