Overview

Cephalexin + clindamycin is a combination of two antibiotics used together to treat bacterial infections. Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is primarily effective against gram-positive bacteria. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, making it effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain gram-positive organisms, including some strains resistant to other antibiotics. This combination may be considered in cases where mixed aerobic and anaerobic infections are suspected or when broader coverage is needed due to resistance patterns[2][4][5].
