It is primarily used for serious gram-positive infections, including those caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)[2][3]. This combination may be used empirically in critically ill patients with suspected polymicrobial infection or when both MRSA and anaerobic coverage are needed (e.g., necrotizing fasciitis, toxic shock syndrome)[3][6].
