Overview

Cetrorelix + triptorelin is a combination of two gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues used in reproductive medicine, particularly in the context of controlled ovarian stimulation for assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Cetrorelix is a GnRH antagonist that blocks the action of endogenous GnRH at its receptor, thereby suppressing luteinizing hormone (LH) surges and preventing premature ovulation. Triptorelin is a GnRH agonist that initially stimulates but then downregulates pituitary GnRH receptors, leading to decreased secretion of LH and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The combination may be studied or used to modulate ovarian function, influence steroidogenesis, and optimize outcomes during fertility treatments. Both agents act on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis but through different mechanisms—cetrorelix by competitive antagonism and triptorelin by receptor desensitization[1][2][3][7][8].
