Overview
Cetuximab + FOLFIRI is a combination chemoimmunotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer that expresses epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and has wild-type KRAS. The regimen consists of four drugs: - Cetuximab, a monoclonal antibody targeting EGFR to inhibit cancer cell growth. - Irinotecan (Camptosar), a topoisomerase I inhibitor that prevents DNA replication in cancer cells. - Fluorouracil (Adrucil), an antimetabolite that disrupts DNA synthesis. - Leucovorin calcium (folinic acid), which enhances the effect of fluorouracil. This combination is typically administered intravenously every 14 days and is indicated for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Each component drug has been approved by regulatory agencies for use in cancer therapy[1][2][3][5][7].
