Overview

Cetuximab + paclitaxel is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (R/M-SCCHN), especially in patients who are ineligible for platinum-based chemotherapy or have progressed after such regimens. Cetuximab is a monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), blocking downstream signaling pathways involved in tumor cell proliferation, survival, motility, and invasion. Paclitaxel is a small molecule chemotherapeutic agent that stabilizes microtubules, thereby inhibiting mitosis and inducing apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. The combination has shown efficacy as both first-line therapy for unfit patients and as second-line therapy following progression on platinum-based treatments[1][5][6][8].
