Overview

Cetuximab + panitumumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibodies, both targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Cetuximab is a chimeric IgG1 monoclonal antibody, while panitumumab is a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody. Both drugs bind to EGFR on the surface of tumor cells and inhibit ligand-induced activation of the receptor, leading to inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis. These agents are primarily used in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) with wild-type RAS genes. While both drugs share similar mechanisms—blocking EGFR signaling—they differ in their immunogenicity and ability to activate immune effector functions due to their different antibody subclasses. The combination itself is not standard clinical practice but may be referenced in comparative or mechanistic studies[6][8][9].
