cetuximab + panitumumab

Cetuximab + panitumumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibodies, both targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Cetuximab is a chimeric IgG1 monoclonal antibody, while panitumumab is a fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody. Both drugs bind to EGFR on the surface of tumor cells and inhibit ligand-induced activation of the receptor, leading to inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis. These agents are primarily used in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) with wild-type RAS genes. While both drugs share similar mechanisms—blocking EGFR signaling—they differ in their immunogenicity and ability to activate immune effector functions due to their different antibody subclasses.
