Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination regimen is a multi-agent therapeutic approach being investigated in a Phase III clinical trial (led by investigator Ji Dongmei) for the first-line treatment of recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (R/M HNSCC). The regimen incorporates cetuximab, a chimeric monoclonal antibody that inhibits the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR); a PD-1 inhibitor, which can be either pembrolizumab (a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody) or finotonlimab (SCT-I10A, a recombinant humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody); and a chemotherapy backbone consisting of nab-paclitaxel (albumin-bound paclitaxel) and a platinum agent (cisplatin or carboplatin). By combining EGFR inhibition, immune checkpoint blockade, and cytotoxic chemotherapy, the regimen aims to overcome resistance mechanisms and improve survival outcomes in patients with advanced HNSCC.
