CF101 + methotrexate

CF101 + methotrexate is a **combination therapy** under investigation for inflammatory diseases, primarily **rheumatoid arthritis**. CF101 (also known as IB-MECA) is a selective **A3 adenosine receptor agonist** with anti-inflammatory effects. Methotrexate (MTX) is a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) that works, in part, by increasing endogenous adenosine, which activates adenosine receptors. Studies show that methotrexate upregulates A3 adenosine receptor (A3AR) expression in inflammatory cells, making them more susceptible to CF101's action. The combination has demonstrated enhanced anti-inflammatory efficacy and significant protection against joint damage in animal models and supports exploration in human patients[1][2].
