CGC-11047 + docetaxel is a combination therapy under investigation for cancer treatment. CGC-11047 is a polyamine analog and small molecule with anti-proliferative properties, designed to halt cell growth and induce apoptosis in cancer cells by interfering with polyamine metabolism, which is essential for cell proliferation and differentiation[1][4][5]. In preclinical models, CGC-11047 has shown significant inhibition of tumor development in lung and prostate cancers, both as a single agent and in combination with other chemotherapeutics[4][5]. Docetaxel is a well-established taxane chemotherapy that promotes microtubule stabilization, leading to mitotic arrest and apoptosis. The combination aims to enhance antitumor efficacy through complementary mechanisms—polyamine pathway disruption (CGC‑11047) plus microtubule inhibition (docetaxel). Development of CGC‑11047 was initially led by Cellgate; Progen has also been involved in its clinical development[3][7].
