Overview

CGECC + thalidomide is a combination therapy consisting of the multi-agent chemotherapy regimen "CGECC" and the immunomodulatory drug thalidomide. While "CGECC" is not a standard, widely recognized acronym for a specific chemotherapy regimen in major oncology guidelines or literature, it likely refers to a combination of cytotoxic agents (potentially including cyclophosphamide, gemcitabine, etoposide, cisplatin/carboplatin, and corticosteroids), but this cannot be confirmed from available sources. Thalidomide is an oral immunomodulatory agent with anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic properties; it modulates cytokine production (notably inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-alpha) and affects T-cell function. Thalidomide has been used in various cancers (notably multiple myeloma) and inflammatory conditions. Combination regimens with thalidomide are typically used for their synergistic effects in malignancies or severe inflammatory states[3][4][5][7]. The precise mechanism of action for the combination depends on the components of CGECC but would include DNA damage/apoptosis induction by cytotoxics plus immune modulation by thalidomide.
