ChAdOx1 NP+M1 is a replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus-vectored vaccine expressing the conserved influenza antigens nucleoprotein (NP) and matrix protein 1 (M1). It was developed by the Jenner Institute at the University of Oxford as a potential universal influenza vaccine. The vaccine uses the ChAdOx1 vector, which is derived from a chimpanzee adenovirus (ChAd) serotype Y25 engineered to avoid replication. This approach overcomes the limitation of pre-existing immunity to human adenoviruses. ChAdOx1 NP+M1 is designed to induce strong cellular immune responses, particularly T-cell responses, which could provide broad protection against different influenza strains.
