chelated zinc + minoxidil

chelated zinc + minoxidil is a combination therapy investigated by Siriraj Hospital for the treatment of female pattern hair loss (FPHL). It consists of a 15 mg oral chelated zinc supplement taken daily alongside the twice-daily topical application of a 5% minoxidil solution. Zinc serves as an essential trace element and enzymatic cofactor involved in protein synthesis and hair follicle metabolism, while minoxidil is a vasodilator and ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener that promotes hair follicle proliferation and prolongs the anagen phase of the hair cycle. A pilot study conducted at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, demonstrated that this combination improved hair density and shaft diameter in Thai women with FPHL more effectively than standard treatments, with no reported side effects.
