Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Glycopyrronium bromide (CHF5259) is an investigational extra-fine inhaled formulation of glycopyrrolate developed as a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. It acts by selectively antagonizing the muscarinic M3 receptor on bronchial smooth muscle cells, leading to bronchodilation and reduced mucus secretion. The drug is delivered via a pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI), allowing direct administration to the lungs. Clinical trials have shown that CHF5259 improves lung function in patients with moderate to severe COPD and has demonstrated a favorable safety profile[1][3][4].
