Overview

Chi-Ju-Di-Huang-Wan + Jia-Wei-Xiao-Yao-San is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) combination therapy developed by China Medical University Hospital for the treatment of dry eye disease. The formula consists of two classic TCM preparations: Chi-Ju-Di-Huang-Wan (CJDHW), which typically contains Lycium fruit and Chrysanthemum flower, and Jia-Wei-Xiao-Yao-San (JWXYS), also known as Augmented Rambling Powder. In clinical pilot studies, this combination has been evaluated as an oral complementary therapy alongside artificial tears. Its mechanism of action involves the suppression of inflammatory cytokines and the prevention of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) upregulation in tears, leading to increased tear secretion and reduced ocular surface inflammation.
