Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A novel investigational mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of chikungunya virus infection. The vaccine, known as VAL-181388 or mRNA-1388, encodes structural proteins of the chikungunya virus to elicit an immune response and stimulate production of neutralizing antibodies. It is designed as a prophylactic immunostimulant and has been evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults. The developer is Moderna Therapeutics. As of the latest updates, no further development beyond early-phase clinical trials has been reported.
