Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Children's PediaCare Long-Acting Cough Plus Cold is an over-the-counter (OTC) combination medication specifically formulated for pediatric use to treat symptoms of the common cold, flu, and other respiratory conditions. It contains dextromethorphan, a non-opioid cough suppressant that acts on the cough center in the brain to elevate the cough threshold, and a nasal decongestant such as phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine, which works by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages to reduce swelling and congestion. Developed by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare and now marketed by Haleon, the product is designed to provide symptom relief for up to 6 to 8 hours. It is available in child-friendly formats, including grape-flavored liquids and chewable tablets, and is marketed as an alcohol-free, non-drowsy option for children's cold and cough management.
