Overview

CS-BCG-PSN-OVA is an experimental nanoparticle-based sustained-release vaccine formulation designed for the treatment of bronchial asthma. It combines immunoregulation and allergen-specific desensitization therapies by encapsulating Bacillus Calmette-Guerin polysaccharide nucleic acid (BCG-PSN) and ovalbumin (OVA) within chitosan (CS) nanoparticles. The vaccine aims to correct the Th1/Th2 immune imbalance characteristic of asthma by suppressing Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5) and promoting Th1 (IFN-gamma) and regulatory T cell (Treg) responses (IL-10, CD4+CD25+Foxp3+). Preclinical studies in murine models have demonstrated that this formulation significantly alleviates airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) and reduces eosinophilic airway inflammation more effectively than its individual components.
