Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The chlamydia vaccine (Spixia Biotechnology) is a prophylactic vaccine candidate designed to prevent infections caused by *Chlamydia trachomatis*. Developed through a collaboration between Spixia Biotechnology and Eurocine Vaccines, the vaccine is based on a patented recombinant polypeptide antigen discovered by Spixia. The vaccine is intended to elicit a protective immunological response against the bacterium, which is a leading cause of sexually transmitted infections and can lead to severe complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility in women. Development reached the preclinical stage, with manufacturing process development conducted by Biovian Oy. However, the program is currently classified as discontinued following corporate shifts at Eurocine Vaccines.
