Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chlorambucil + prednisolone is a combination therapy containing the alkylating agent chlorambucil and the corticosteroid prednisolone. Chlorambucil is an immunosuppressant and antineoplastic drug that forms covalent bonds with nucleic acids, disrupting DNA strands and suppressing antibody production. It is most effective during the resting phase of the cell cycle and is cell cycle non-specific. Prednisolone is a steroid hormone that works synergistically with chlorambucil. The combination is more efficacious than single drugs because different drugs kill cancer cells in different ways.
