Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chlorosun H is an ophthalmic combination ointment developed by Sunways India. It contains chloramphenicol, a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic, and hydrocortisone acetate, a mild corticosteroid. Chloramphenicol acts by reversibly binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting peptidyl transferase and preventing protein synthesis. Hydrocortisone acetate acts as an agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor, reducing ocular inflammation, redness, and swelling by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins. Chlorosun H is approved in India for the treatment of bacterial eye infections and associated ocular inflammation, including conditions such as uveitis, allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis, scleritis, iridocyclitis, and non-ulcerous keratitis.
