Chlordiazepoxide + clidinium bromide is a fixed-dose combination oral medication containing chlordiazepoxide, a benzodiazepine, and clidinium bromide, a synthetic anticholinergic agent. Chlordiazepoxide acts as a positive allosteric modulator at the GABAA receptor, enhancing the inhibitory effect of GABA and providing anxiolytic and sedative effects. Clidinium bromide is a muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist (antimuscarinic), which decreases gastrointestinal motility and secretion, thus helping to relieve abdominal cramps, spasms, and discomfort. Together, this combination is approved for controlling emotional and somatic factors in gastrointestinal disorders and is used as adjunctive therapy for peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and acute enterocolitis.
