Overview
Tribs is a branded generic fixed-dose combination of chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide, developed and marketed by Eskag Pharma. It is indicated as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders influenced by anxiety and stress, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), peptic ulcer disease, and acute enterocolitis. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine that acts as a positive allosteric modulator of GABA-A receptors in the central nervous system, providing anxiolytic and sedative effects. Clidinium bromide is an anticholinergic agent that competitively antagonizes muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (primarily M1 and M3) in the gastrointestinal tract, reducing gastric acid secretion and gastrointestinal motility to relieve spasms and cramping. Tribs is formulated as an oral tablet.
