Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Chlorhexidine + dexamethasone is a combination pharmaceutical product developed by Guilin Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of oral mucosal ulcers and other inflammatory lesions of the oral cavity. This small molecule therapy is formulated as a film for topical application directly to the oral mucosa. It leverages the synergistic effects of chlorhexidine, a broad-spectrum biguanide antiseptic that disrupts microbial cell membranes to prevent secondary infections, and dexamethasone, a potent synthetic glucocorticoid that provides anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive actions. By reducing local inflammation, pain, and swelling while maintaining a sterile environment, the combination promotes the rapid healing of oral ulcers. The product is approved for use in China.
