Overview
Spirytus skażony hibitanem is a topical antiseptic solution developed by Zakład Farmaceutyczny AMARA. It contains 0.5% chlorhexidine (typically as chlorhexidine gluconate) dissolved in ethanol. The product is primarily used for the disinfection of skin prior to invasive procedures such as injections, blood sampling, and surgical interventions, as well as for hygienic hand disinfection. Chlorhexidine provides persistent antimicrobial activity by disrupting microbial cell membranes, while ethanol offers rapid bactericidal effects through protein denaturation and lipid dissolution. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) product in Poland.
