Overview

Angal S is a fixed-dose combination topical spray containing the antiseptic chlorhexidine gluconate and the local anesthetic lidocaine hydrochloride. Developed by Sandoz (Lek), it is used for the symptomatic treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx, such as sore throat, pharyngitis, and gingivitis. Chlorhexidine provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity by disrupting bacterial and fungal cell membranes, while lidocaine acts as a sodium channel blocker to provide rapid, localized pain relief. The 'S' in the name typically denotes the spray formulation, and variants may include flavoring agents such as menthol or lemon.
