Overview

Brox-DX is a combination oral syrup developed by RH-Pharma, primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of dry cough, nasal congestion, and allergic symptoms associated with the common cold or upper respiratory tract infections. It contains three active pharmaceutical ingredients: dextromethorphan hydrobromide, chlorpheniramine maleate, and phenylephrine hydrochloride. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a centrally acting antitussive that suppresses the cough reflex by acting on the cough center in the medulla. Chlorpheniramine maleate is a first-generation alkylamine antihistamine that provides relief from allergic symptoms such as sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose by antagonizing H1 receptors. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a sympathomimetic amine that acts as a nasal decongestant by stimulating alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, leading to vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa and reduction of swelling.
