Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KYLCOLD is a pediatric oral suspension developed by Kylon Remedies for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, fever, nasal congestion, and minor body aches in children. It is a fixed-dose combination containing three active ingredients: paracetamol (acetaminophen), phenylephrine, and chlorpheniramine. Paracetamol acts as an analgesic and antipyretic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Phenylephrine is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that functions as a nasal decongestant by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages. Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation antihistamine that competitively blocks histamine H1 receptors to alleviate symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and watery eyes.
