Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KYLCOF-D Syrup is an oral fixed-dose combination medication developed by Kylon Remedies for the symptomatic relief of dry cough, nasal congestion, sneezing, and watery eyes associated with the common cold, flu, or upper respiratory allergies. It is formulated as a syrup containing three active ingredients: chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine), dextromethorphan hydrobromide (a cough suppressant), and phenylephrine hydrochloride (a nasal decongestant). Chlorpheniramine maleate acts as an H1 receptor antagonist to alleviate allergic symptoms like sneezing and watery eyes. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide acts centrally on the cough center in the brain to suppress non-productive coughs. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that constricts blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, reducing swelling and congestion.
