cholecalciferol + risedronate sodium

DKF-335 is an orally administered, fixed-dose combination liquid formulation (oral solution) of risedronate sodium (a bisphosphonate) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) under development by Dongkook Pharmaceutical for the treatment of osteoporosis, including postmenopausal osteoporosis. Risedronate sodium acts as a bone resorption inhibitor by targeting farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP) synthase in osteoclasts, while cholecalciferol targets the vitamin D receptor to facilitate calcium absorption and maintain bone health. Developed as an incrementally modified drug (IMD), DKF-335 aims to improve patient compliance and convenience compared to traditional bisphosphonate tablets, which have strict administration requirements. The candidate is currently in Phase I clinical development in South Korea.
