cilazapril + losartan

Cilazapril + losartan is a combination of two antihypertensive agents, each targeting the renin-angiotensin system through different mechanisms. Cilazapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that reduces the formation of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, also resulting in vasodilation and reduced aldosterone-mediated sodium and water retention. The combination has been studied for potential additive effects in conditions such as hypertension and glomerulopathy; however, evidence suggests that combining these agents at maximal doses does not provide additional benefit over monotherapy with either drug alone[1][3]. Both drugs are primarily indicated for hypertension management; cilazapril is also used in heart failure, while losartan has additional indications including diabetic nephropathy.
