Overview
Cinainu is a multi-target botanical drug, classified as a 'New Botanical Entity,' developed by Legacy Healthcare for the treatment of moderate to severe alopecia areata. It is formulated as a topical cutaneous solution containing standardized extracts from *Allium cepa* (onion), *Citrus limon* (lemon), *Theobroma cacao* (cocoa), and *Paullinia cupana* (guarana). The drug's mechanism of action is characterized by its ability to modulate hair follicle cycling and promote endothelial cell activation, which collectively support hair regrowth. Cinainu has been evaluated in the Phase 2/3 RAAINBOW clinical trial, specifically targeting children and adolescents with moderate to severe alopecia areata, where it demonstrated superiority over placebo after 24 weeks of treatment.
