Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cretox-CP is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by Waterley Pharmaceuticals, primarily indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and functional dyspepsia. The medication combines two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms: **cinitapride** and **pantoprazole**. Cinitapride is a substituted benzamide prokinetic agent that acts as a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist and 5-HT2 receptor antagonist, thereby increasing lower esophageal sphincter tone and accelerating gastric emptying. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells. By addressing both impaired gastrointestinal motility and acid overproduction, Cretox-CP provides symptomatic relief for patients suffering from acid reflux, heartburn, and indigestion.
