Overview

Cinnarizine + dimenhydrinate is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily for the treatment of vertigo in adults. Cinnarizine acts as a calcium channel antagonist, improving microcirculation in the inner ear and acting as a vestibular sedative by inhibiting calcium influx into vestibular sensory cells. Dimenhydrinate is an antihistamine with anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) properties, exerting antiemetic and antivertiginous effects mainly through central inhibition of histamine H1 receptors and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. The combination provides both peripheral (cinnarizine) and central (dimenhydrinate) effects on the vestibular system, resulting in synergistic efficacy for vertigo symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and spinning sensation. It is considered more effective than either component alone for vertigo of various origins[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
