CIS-4-METHYL-N\[(1S)\]-3-\(METHYLSULFANYL\)\]-1-\(PYRIDIN\-4\-YLCARBAMOYL\)PROPYL\]CYCLOHEXANECARBOXAMIDE is an experimental small molecule inhibitor of sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51), a cytochrome P450 enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of membrane sterols. It was identified through screening efforts targeting Mycobacterium tuberculosis CYP51 and has demonstrated potent and selective inhibitory activity against Trypanosoma cruzi CYP51, making it a potential candidate for Chagas disease therapy. The compound binds tightly to the active site of CYP51, interfering with sterol biosynthesis in pathogenic protozoa[5][6]. Its development is primarily at the preclinical or early research stage.
