Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Prosemble's reformulated cisplatin is a nanoparticle-based delivery system of the platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin. Developed by Prosemble, this formulation is designed to enhance the delivery of cisplatin to tumor tissues, potentially improving efficacy and reducing the severe systemic toxicities associated with the conventional small-molecule drug. The active ingredient, cisplatin, exerts its antineoplastic effect by binding to DNA and forming intrastrand and interstrand cross-links, which inhibit DNA replication and transcription, triggering apoptosis. This nanoparticle version is currently in preclinical development for a broad range of indications, including testicular, ovarian, bladder, lung, stomach, and head and neck cancers.
