Overview

A combination therapy consisting of two chemotherapeutic agents (cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil) and a targeted monoclonal antibody (nimotuzumab). This regimen targets cancer cells through multiple mechanisms: cisplatin forms DNA crosslinks preventing replication, 5-fluorouracil inhibits thymidylate synthase and disrupts RNA/DNA synthesis, while nimotuzumab blocks EGFR signaling pathways. The combination has shown efficacy in treating various epithelial cancers, particularly head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
