Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination regimen is a chemoimmunotherapy treatment consisting of a platinum-based chemotherapy (either cisplatin or carboplatin), the folate antimetabolite pemetrexed, and the PD-L1-targeting monoclonal antibody atezolizumab. It is primarily used for the treatment of advanced or metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In the clinical development pipeline of ImmunityBio, Inc., this specific regimen is utilized as a standard-of-care backbone in the Phase 3 QUILT-2.023 trial, where it is evaluated either as a control arm or in combination with the IL-15 superagonist nogapendekin alfa inbakicept to enhance anti-tumor immune responses. The regimen works by combining the cytotoxic effects of DNA-damaging agents and antimetabolites with the immune-checkpoint-blocking activity of atezolizumab, which prevents the interaction between PD-L1 and PD-1 to restore T-cell mediated anti-cancer activity.
